Nowadays, everyone in India is talking about Aadhaar card-PAN card linking. The Government of India had declared many deadlines earlier to do the PAN card-Aadhaar card linking for free. Those deadlines are long past and the current Aadhaar card linking news will tell you that you have to pay Rs. 1,000 as fine if you want to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN card. The Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline with the fine has also been extended multiple times, and now there is an ultimatum.

You have to complete the PAN-Aadhaar card linking process by June 30, 2023, or else your PAN card will be inactive from July 1, 2023. It means you have to face the consequences of not having an active PAN card with you and will lose any benefits related to taxes. In short, the deadline for Aadhaar card linking with PAN card even with a penalty of Rs. 1,000 will be the last date of this month, as per the government announcement you see below, which appears on the official income tax website of the Government of India, which also serves as the Aadhaar card linking website.

Now, how can you verify whether your Aadhaar and PAN cards are already linked or not? It's really easy. I just verified mine yesterday. If you are yet in doubt if both cards are linked with each other or not, just follow the below four easy steps to verify the linking status of PAN card to Aadhaar card online in a couple of minutes.

Please have your Aadhar and PAN cards or their numbers handy before you try to verify online if they are linked to each other or not.

If you already have your cards or their numbers with you, proceed to the following step to link your Aadhaar card to PAN card.

Step 1:

Go to the official income tax website of India by typing the following URL on your computer’s internet browser:

www.incometax.gov.in

The following website will open for you.

Step 2:

On the left navigation bar, you will find the 'Link Aadhaar Status' button (Circled in red in the picture). Click it.

Now, the following ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ page will appear.

Step 3:

You can see two boxes, one for the PAN card number and another for the Aadhaar card number. Fill in the boxes with the respective numbers. Note that the 'View Link Aadhaar Status' button at the bottom right corner appears grey and not clickable unless you fill in the PAN card and Aadhar numbers.

Once you fill in both the PAN number and Aadhaar number correctly, the button becomes active and appears in blue as shown below.

(Please note that in the above picture, I have hidden some digits of my PAN card and Aadhaar card numbers using ‘XXXXXX’ for privacy. When you type, both numbers will be displayed exactly on the screen.)

Step 4:

Now, click the ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ blue button at the bottom right corner of the screen to know the Aadhaar-PAN card linking status.

Once you click the button, a new window appears at the centre of the screen displaying the Aadhaar card status with respect to PAN card linking. It displays that both cards are linked with each other if they are linked. Otherwise, it will display a message accordingly.

Now click ‘Close’ to close the window.

That’s all you need to do for your PAN-Aadhar verification concerning linking. Wasn’t it easy? Hurry up to check it out before the PAN card-Aadhaar card linking last date.
